science experiment, making clear water from dirty water

                                                          Experiment

We cut a plastic bottle in half. We used the top of it like a funnel.

We put cottonballs and handy towel in the narrow bottom of the funnel.

A piece of cotton fabric was put on top of the cottonballs and handy towel.

We put the funnel, narrow end down, into a plastic cup.

We tipped the dirty water and dirt into the funnel.

The dirty water dripped into the cup, through the filters, overnight.

The next day the water in the plastic cup was clear.

The experiment worked  but took a long time.

To make it work quicker you could add more filters.
